Post #12 - From Two to Three

I can’t believe it has been a little over 7 months since our last post back in February. A LOT has come about since then. I have been meaning to sit down to share with you all but it's been hard to find the time these days. Since Cade turned 6 months old yesterday, I felt it was the perfect day to get back on.  Before I begin, I just quickly wanted to say a huge THANK YOU again to everyone involved in this story, to everyone who supported us, and to everyone who contributed to the costs. By your sacrifice, you helped bring this precious little boy to our family and I will be forever grateful.  Okay, so we left off on our last post back on Feb 21st where I let you all know that we were fully funded and moving onto the next stage of being entered into the matchbook. Being in the matchbook meant that the pregnancy clients were able to ...

We keep checking things off the list!

Before we jump into what happened last week. Just a quick side note....

After my last post I had a couple people reach out and ask if I got the message they sent through the “contact us” messaging option through the blog. I have looked everywhere, googled and watched youtube videos and have no idea where those messages are going or how I can access them.

So, if you are someone who sent a message, please know I did not get it. I have deleted this feature off the blog for now.

The comment section at the end of each blog post does work, it will post as anonymous.

Now for the updates!

Last week we had our 3rd in-person meeting with Diana (our adoption specialist). It was a long meeting to go over the results of our marriage assessment and readiness for adoption.

To be honest, it was more challenging than I expected. It’s never any fun to have someone tell you what you are/are not good at, am I right? The report scored us in 10 areas, some that we scored 100% in, others moderately high and others that were listed as “potential growth areas”. I know no marriage is perfect, and we all have stuff to work on but if I don’t score an “A” on something then I am not happy about it.  Actually, if I don’t score 98% or better, I am not happy with it! If you're my husband, family or someone I went to school with, you know exactly what I am talking about! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh! And she had us fill out an impromptu questionnaire about our marriage/partner at the beginning of the meeting that we reviewed at the end. So it felt like a pop test and performance review all in one sitting. Yikes! 😬

Just thankful that step is checked off the list!

What's next?

Next week, Diana has a meeting with the team at the agency to review our case. From there they will decide what information is missing or just need more detail about. This will prompt Diana on what we go over in our next meeting, the following week.

That brings us to the week of Aug 14th, when we will have our 4th in-person meeting and hopefully last interview. This will include a 2 hour individual meeting with Cody and then one for me, as well as signing and reviewing some more documents . This should finalize all the information she needs to be able to write up our case to eventually send off for court approval.

All we have to do is make it through these individual interviews in a couple weeks and then all the hard stuff should be over! The home inspection will happen soon after the last interview but that should be pretty easy considering we don’t have a pool.

That is all for now. I am working up my next post to go over the topic of “why adoption?”.
Stay tuned.

Before you go! I thought it would be fun to do a FAQ or a question/answer style post soon. So whatever questions you have regarding anything about adoption or our journey please post in the comment section now and I will answer each of them in an upcoming post. The comments come in anonymous, so don't be shy about your questions!

  3. So exciting! I may have missed it, but if you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to hear what agency/organization you’re working through this process with and how you chose them? Lots of prayers for you all!
