Post #12 - From Two to Three

I can’t believe it has been a little over 7 months since our last post back in February. A LOT has come about since then. I have been meaning to sit down to share with you all but it's been hard to find the time these days. Since Cade turned 6 months old yesterday, I felt it was the perfect day to get back on.  Before I begin, I just quickly wanted to say a huge THANK YOU again to everyone involved in this story, to everyone who supported us, and to everyone who contributed to the costs. By your sacrifice, you helped bring this precious little boy to our family and I will be forever grateful.  Okay, so we left off on our last post back on Feb 21st where I let you all know that we were fully funded and moving onto the next stage of being entered into the matchbook. Being in the matchbook meant that the pregnancy clients were able to ...

Interviews done

This should be a quick one today...

We made it through the last interview! Hurray! They had us stressing because they list it as individual interviews, two hours each.  Which it was, took almost exactly two hours each. Cody went first, then it was my turn. But I felt like this one was more of a recap than an interview. Basically Diana went over our stories from beginning to end, making sure she had it correct and added in more detail if needed. I don't know why it needed to be separate. Maybe they get tired of having the other spouse jump in and comment when it isn't their turn ๐Ÿ˜‚  Thank you to all those who were praying and thinking of us this week!

Whats next?

  • Next week our file will get reviewed by the agency's team. If accepted, we will get notified we can start working on our match letter.
  • Home inspection will be completed with a final meeting around the end of September.
  • Diana will be writing up our homey study, a 15-20 page document on who we are and that we would make great parents. Once that is completed, it will get sent off to the court for review to be either approved or denied.
  • Once it's approved and we get the official certification from the state to adopt, we will be placed in the match book, start fundraising and patiently wait.

What is a match letter?

Different agencies call it differently, but the match letter is a 3-4 page overview/profile of our family that the birth mother/father look at to get to know us and see if we would be a good fit. It includes pictures and different sections that talk about what are personalities are like, what we do for fun, what traditions we have, what our family is like, etc.

The agency will compile all of their match letters into a book called the matchbook. When a birth mom is looking for an adoptive family that's what she looks through. She is the one to choose where her baby will go.

That's all for now, but before I sign off just wanted to thank those who have commented. I love getting to read them! Most of them are posted as "unknown" so I don't get to see who they're from. I also don't have the option to reply to them. So please know, I have read every one of them and appreciate you! Someone was asking about agency name and why we picked it. I promise I will answer that one of these days for you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hope you have a blessed day!
